What Inspired me into this field?

I’ve always had a genuine passion to help others, particularly when it comes to feeling good in your own skin and living up to your full potential. When you feel good on the inside, you are eager to participate in activities, reach goals, and have plenty of laughs. Many of us have spent days feeling stressed,  stuck on autopilot, or chasing symptoms; without realizing how our food and lifestyle habits either nourish our body, OR work against us. Hormonal imbalances, migraines and exhaustion (drifting to sleep during a 7pm movie), are issues I once struggled with. Once I changed my lifestyle and started learning how food and their nutrients influence the way our body functions, I wanted to hop into Doc Brown’s DeLorean and turn back time.

Entering Motherhood

My husband and I love to travel, so we waited until our mid 30’s before talking about having our first child. I wanted to empower myself with the knowledge and tools for a healthy pregnancy, birth, and child.  It was during an engaging book on Holistic Nutrition, written by a Doctor of Functional Medicine with decades of private practice experience, that I discovered how proper nourishment reduces aging factors, increases egg quality & conception odds, encourages optimal fetal development, and establishes the health of a baby’s gut microbiome.  Connecting the dots between nutrition, science, further ignited my fascination and interest within this area.

When I became a mother the realization suddenly hit me; I’m responsible for another human!  While I didn’t know much at this point, I knew a creating a good relationship with food &  optimal nourishment was a great starting point.

Before introducing solids to my son, I read a book covering solids introduction and beyond.  I dove into health issues that can occur due to early nutritional deficiencies, gained knowledge on how a digestive system develops, as well as strategies for allergy reduction, brain development, and growth. The more I read, applied and discovered, the more my desire grew to expand my knowledge and education within this field.  After implementing these learnings with my son, I passed down information to my nieces and nephews. I realized I had a passion for this area.

My fellow ladies ♥

Empowered Women, Empower Women.  Trust me when I say that I can relate to various issues and imbalances.  Learning how to approach our individual nutritional needs can make all the difference in feeling and performing our best.  After all, you’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life! (Hey, Kate Winslet’s line from The Holiday really resonated with me).

Way Back Play Back to connecting the dots

I had a front row seat to my sister’s health struggle and mysterious symptoms which no one understood. Through her journey, I witnessed and pieced together the missing link of an integrated/holistic approach to addressing overall health & well-being. Once my sister began working with a naturopathic doctor who had in-depth knowledge of nutrition, she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.  Following a nutritional approach with a small piece of western medicine, the pieces were put back together and her symptoms are now under control.
